Cast steel shot is made of high quality steel scrap, first melted and then use high pressure water jet to make molten molten steel into a small spherical. The resulting pellets are heated again to purify the homogeneity and then subject to quenching. The pellets after quenching are dried in a furnace and reheated and tempered to achieve proper hardness. The temper-treated steel balls are sorted by mechanical screens to 11 grades that meet the SAE standard for use in shot blasting equipment. Different particle size and hardness of the product for different processes, such as surface strengthening.
